Sarah's interdisciplinary art practice begins with cultural and historical research. She explores little known women through history who have been physically engaged in warfare, rebellions or acts of aggression against oppressors. Using this information she creates dynamic art quilts representing them, utilising techniques such as appliqué and quilting on repurposed material.
Working with textiles and traditional craft skills gives Sarah's art and research a more accessible quality with less formal artistic connotations, allowing her to share it with a diverse audience. Her work has been part of exhibitions in London and Worthing.
In 2022 Sarah was the recipient of the DYCP grant from Arts Council England.
