Katie

Katie is an expressive artist based in Lancing, whose work is deeply inspired by the natural world and landscapes of Adur, where she has lived for over 20 years. Her artistic practice encompasses a range of mediums, including paint, mixed media, and free motion embroidery. She is particularly known for her distinctive monoprints created using a gelli plate.

In 2021 Katie was awarded a grant from the Adur and Worthing Trust. With this funding, she ran a series of textile workshops and showcased her work in exhibitions held in Worthing and Sompting. She holds an MA in Inclusive Arts Practice and brings a wealth of experience from leading numerous community arts projects over the years. She combines traditional techniques with innovative approaches, resulting in art that is both visually captivating and conceptually engaging.

In addition to her personal artistic pursuits, Katie also works at the Circular Space - Creative Recycling Centre in Shoreham. There, she runs the Calm Crafting Club, leading neurodivergent friendly workshops focused on paper crafts and bookbinding using recycled materials. This initiative perfectly aligns with her passion for creativity, sustainability, and community engagement.

Katie's work embodies a deep connection to nature, a commitment to community arts, and a dedication to exploring diverse artistic mediums. Her monoprints, mixed media pieces, and community initiatives contribute significantly to the artistic landscape of Lancing and the wider Adur region.
